Crater Lake National Park
1/6
In January of 2018, we began teaching a National Park class at Davis Middle School in San Antonio, TX. This is the first of its kind. National Park classes have been taught at the university/collegiate level, but teaching in a classroom at a grade school level is a first. It is exciting watching these youngster learn about something totally foreign to them. These middle schoolers now have more knowledge about national parks compared to the majority of Americans...how cool is that?
LEARNING SOMETHING NEW
Some of the information the children learned:
How many national parks are there?
When was the first national parks created?
Why were the national parks created?
Who can create a national park? and so much more.
We are creating a new program at LAMAR ELEMENTARY in San Antonio, TX
The children in this program are reading about outdoors, nature, travel, animals, different cities, different states, different countries, and much more.
Throughout this school year we will experience outdoor places and explore spaces like hiking trails.
We are working with kids from the San Antonio Independent School District (SAISD).
We are spending quality time with these children, building relationships, and being positive role models.
This school year, we are hiking, traveling, and exploring new places with these youth.
We are continuing our relationship with kids from the San Antonio Independent School District (SAISD). Mentoring is key to what we do.
We are on the move. We will take the students to zoos, museums, and on hikes. and visit university campuses.
In collaboration with Outward Bound Adventures out of Pasadena, CA, we are headed west from Texas and will take the youth camping, hiking, and white water rafting. This will give the children an opportunity to experience different cultures.
